The Challenge
Haskell is a small city in West Texas, located at the intersection of State Highways 277 and 380, roughly 55 miles north of Abilene. With a population of around 3,300, Haskell serves as the county seat of Haskell County and is a regional hub for surrounding rural communities. Like many small county seat cities in Texas, Haskell operates lean, with limited staff and no dedicated IT department to manage and maintain a government website.
Beyond basic city government functions, Haskell also needed to represent its local chamber of commerce and economic development corporation online, serving as a centralized resource for both residents and prospective businesses. Maintaining separate sites for each organization was not realistic, and the city needed a platform that could handle that breadth without adding complexity for staff.
The Solution
The City of Haskell partnered with Munibit to build a unified website that serves city government, the chamber of commerce, and the Haskell Development Corporation all in one place. The site organizes the city's departments, agendas and minutes, forms and permits, and open records requests alongside community-facing features including a business directory, chamber member resources, an "Explore Haskell" section, and economic development tools like a community profile, incentives information, and available properties. Munibit handled the design and setup so city and chamber staff could focus on their day-to-day work.
